work on my alstom sd40-2 #3072 continued. last few days a lot have been done :

- designing and printing decals
- applying decals
- do some slight weathering

now i need to apply a coat of semigloss finish to seal color, weathering and decals. once dry i'll assemble the loco again and will do a first test-run. pictures will follow as soon as possible.

here are some pics of my alstom sd40-2 #3072. windows, trucks and kadee couplers still missing. not yet assembled either. sorry for the rather poor picture quality.

but you can still get an idea of what it will look like once finished.

Nice work Sandro! Good to see serious modelling being done in G. Once we get through our international move we will hook up with Steve W and get into some hardcore G scale.

I have been giving G scale locomotives and rolling stock some serious thought. I will need some new equipment though. Might be time to buy that high speed CNC mill.

I love it.

Just starting to pull an SD40-2 apart for painting and I was wondering how you removed the all the windows and how you plan to get them back?

As I recall from my GP9's they don't come out real easy.

dave,

they pop out rather easily. if necessary you can remove them using a flat screwdriver. BUT CAREFULL !! most of the windows are glued in place with ca or something similar.

good luck

That looks amazing Sandro! I'd love to see that in person, I bet it is even better! Great job on weathering too!
