little motivation to work on the north end of the yard or crawling under the layout to install more turnout servos. instead i've been running a few trains and started work on the backdrops. replace some fiberboard pieces and then painted them white twice. painting serves two purposes. first it gives a clean finish towards the ceiling. second, spray glue sticks a lot better on the paint than on the raw fiberboard. after some masking and messing with paint i just had to print the backdrop. due to the size i had to create 23 image files in total. each 4ft wide.... first 10 pieces are printed, 7 already installed. i think the scenery looks a lot better now. soon i will be able to work on the landscape.
as you might have noticed there are some insulaters close to the ceiling. i found and bought about 2 dozens of these old glass insulators. the vertical wooden dowels are original as well. don't ask how i got them using a untreatened 2x2 as a base i installed 4 insulators and then mounted them on two support columns. not in use (currently ?) but they still look attractive in a train room
