howdy folks....

been a while since i added another work report. been busy with a lot of different things such as garden work , holidays and many honey-dos.

a few weeks ago my old aristo train engineer broke down causing a service disruption of my garden railroad. running multiple engines require quite a few amps of power. 4 usa-trains sd40-2 with no load can pull 12 amps easily. a digitrax 8amp booster was not able to power two of them. bummer. i finally decided to go dcc and bought a mzion 30z command station/booster. this unit delivers a whopping 25 amps plus 5 amps on a programming track.
currently none of my locomotives have a decoder installed. running them in analog mode on a dcc system works fine but might have negative impacts on the motors. decoders are ordered but not yet here. anyways, i played around with this new system for a while.

during the last few weeks i didn't do too much on my n-scale layout. except running trains, replacing one or two broken servos, tweaking some turnouts.

at least i figured out what the next project will be : in my project box i have a couple of sd70mac. 4 of them will become grey kcs units (3900, 3905, 3907, 3932). more or less a simple paint scheme. however, masking the front antiglare panel and the black roof will be challenging. stay tuned for any progress on these engines.
