been running trains for quite a while. for once no modern engine and long trains. instead i've been running steam engines and cp rail passenger cars. bachmann's 2-6-0 mogul with factory installed dcc runs incredibly smooth. didn't check the maximum pulling power but this little engine pulled 3 rapido passenger cars with ease.

also the bachmann 2-8-0 run fine. i converted one of them to dcc while the other is still dc. since the front coupler is just a dummy i used one steamer in front and the second one as a pusher running in reverse. no derailments for approx one hour. nice.

finally i tested a model power 4-6-2. needs a bit of tweaking but pulling power is impressive. mainly due to the heavy metal body. also installing a decoder seems to be really easy. too bad i didn't have one in stock.

yesterday i disassembled 3 more kato f40ph. after sandblasting, cleaning and drying i used putty to fill the ditchlights and holes for the airconditions. so there are currently 6 f40ph in the shops. all received their first coat of paint. for once i used undercoat light gray with a drop of black. next steps will be masking the remaining colors (yellow, blue, black). of course these units will become via rail engines as usual.

You are right about the MODEL POWER steam engines...

They are surprisingly easy to convert to DCC and make excellent "reliable" steam engine in N scale !

If only KATO would read and do some follow up with thier up-coming steam engine projects.

The 2-8-2 is a remarquable engine, but such a pain in the *ss to install a decoder...

The 4-8-4 is a lot better, but I have seen a lot of them having problems with the draw bars.

Nothing close to the the TERRIBLE 300$ ++ Rail Baron engines !!
DO NOT EVER BUY THESE ENGINES !!
Very expensive for what it is trully Worth !
