Alright now!...

Since my police car project is finished, it is time for another car project!...

New project: Ford Gran Torino 1973.
This car is complelty original, only 11800 Miles to it!!
When I got it, it was still on its original nylon tires!

I have started to work on my "runner".
This is the car I was using daily for the last two summers.
I am starting to use it in late April up until october... I don't use it when it rains.
It is now time to refurbished the car completly!

Stating from the bottom and the under of the car...
Fuel tank has been removed, drive-shaft, diffenrential...
Rear bumpers and fenders, mouldings, interior...

Preparing the car for sandblast and repainting of the floors.
Pictures will follow...

Here are some pictures of the progress so far...

The car in its original shape, before I have started to work on it.
I have replaced the wheels for more "sports" looking ones.

A picture of the rear section lifted without the wheels, differential, bumper, mouldings...

The floor, in perfect condition, just some rust over the metal face.

After months of waiting, here are some pictures of the final project. To me, it takes less time to re-do a complete car than to figure how photobucket works...

1- before the engine removal...
Fendres, hood, bumper were removed.
We have a good idea of where the "cancer" is now.

OK now, pictures of the car in October 2012.
Already a full year since the end of the project.
2013 was the first year the car saw plenty of action having been refurbished completly.
It was quite a blast in all the car shows we went, as we do not see Gran Torino very often, especially 1973...

10 months of INTENSIVE WORK was necessary to complete the project.
730 hours of labor in 10 months !!
This is having a part time job WITH your regular 40 Hours/week job.
Worth all the hard work when you go for a ride tought !

My 3 cars, about three years ago.
I have just received the Gran Torino on that picture.
The Plymouth Fury has just been painted in dark navy blue.

Another picture of the left front corner...
When I say that there is not a single part that has not been sandblasted and repainted

Motor in place, this is what the public is able to enjoy when I open the Hood !

Picture of the car outside in last December (2013)...
Do not worry, I do not use the Gran Torino, or any other oldies, from November up to May.
I just took it outside the garage to take some winter shots with snow surrounding it.

I did mention about my Fury...

But my Gran Torino did even better at the annual CAR SHOW in Granby, Québec.

My Ford ended up 6th in the OVERALL appreciation of ALL the cars that were at the show !!

How is that for recognition ?!!

Nice work! I love seeing restored cars! I wish I could find a restored Pontiac 6000 STE somewhere on the planet, vintage 1983 or 1984. (Not that I have any money to buy one, but dreams are still free, right? )

I remember when the Plymouth and Ford models were new. I would've been about 6yrs old, give or take. (Just turned 49.) I can't help but think of "Starsky and Hutch" when I look at the Torino.
