I'm looking to do a CN SGC and looking for a suggestion where to start. I'm thinking of starting with a MTL 40' box car. Any thoughs and suggestions would be great.

Hi Nick

It depends on which CN SGU you like to model. One with a smooth side (as the new Rapido HO scale once) or with corrugated sides like CN 15444. Anyway, starting with a 40' box car is the nearest match for a SGU as the prototype is 42' Long. Personally I would start with a Eastern Seaboard Models 40' Insulated/Ventilated XIH Box Car. It has no Roof walks and the Roof shape looks more like the prototype SGU. Interested to see some pics of your SGU Project.

Markus
