been quite busy since the last work report. adding fascia, building up the landscape, running trains, custom painting engines.

and of course spent some time with family. xmas and such.

finally i shot a few pics to give you an impression of what i've done.

let's start with a few engines i'm working on. these will become via rail units. work done :
- removed tail end and added a 3d printed hep end
- added lift rings
- drilled holes for the grab irons
- added blma fans
- added miniatures by eric winterization hatches
- added sinclair antennas
- filled the original horn location
- filled the (wrong) ditchlights
- added the 2-/3-horn as via runs them
- painted the shell light gray
- masked and painted teal (for the renaissance unit)
- masked and painted the black parts
- added a few decals

what's next :
- apply the remaining decals
- add grab irons
- weather the units slightly
- install a digitrax decoder

i also started work on cp rails sd40-3 #5102. the 5100 series are rebuilt sd40-2. as a base i took a kato sd40-2 mid production of the 176-82xx series.

done so far :
- removed the double rear light and installed a single light instead
- installed grab irons on the rear end
- installed blma fans
- installed winterization hat
- modified the exhaust part
- installed the piping on the rear end of the roof
- installed lift rings
- added winshield wipers
- added sinclair antennas
- added brackets for the two beacons
- beacons installed
- painted red and black where appropriate

next :
- add decals
- some light weathering
- install decoder
- wire the beacons

sorry, no pics yet.

as mentioned i worked on the fascia and landscape of my layout. the backdop is just a temporary solution to give an impression of the whole scene.

after placing a few trees on the white styrofoam i decided to build this part of the layout as a winter scene. never done something like that in the past. i placed a few chooch walls , added some flexible paste (woodland scenics) to simulate snow patches. then i added some of the paste to trees. looked good. so i did a few more trees today.

unfortunately i will need approximatela 4000 trees... lots of work ahead.
