didn't work on my model railroad for a few weeks. mostly because i was out of country for holidays
also i've been working on a few other important and world-saving things. aka honey-dos.
yesterday a former co-worker showed up and brought a box with engines he no longer has a use for. so.....there are a few new entries in my roster.
also my trainbuddy markus was here. mostly to run trains a bit , watching dvd and chatting. no work done. oh well... at least we had the chance to test-run a very old kato gp38. produced long before the split-frame design. this engine was never out of its box. in other words unrun for a quarter of a century. placed it on the track and it ran smooth from the beginning. then we added a kato-for-atlas gp30. unrun as well. both engines developed incredible pulling power ! pulling a long tank train thru curves and up the 1.2% incline with little to no problem. usually i need 3 es44ac for the same train ! that was quite an amazing sight. gonna keep the gp38 and repaint it into cp rail colors some day.
